NEW ASSEMBLY STANDARD WORK CHART DEVELOPMENT

PROJECT INCLUDES:

IMEG was hired by a startup Electric Commercial Truck manufacturer to develop Standard Work Charts for multiple new assembly lines. This customer was launching a new program with 35 stations across two manufacturing buildings.

Lacking documentation on much of the process including parts, tools, and torquing
Unstable assembly line and overall process
Inconsistency in Standard Work templates across different assembly lines and programs
Unknown process times and cycle times

Observe & document the existing process
Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers in a cross-functional team to establish the best practices
Actively listen to operator concerns about the current process
Conduct a time study to identify process times and man hours per product

Delivered 35 stations worth of detailed documentation of the process
Posted and maintained 35 stations worth of Standard Work Charts, along with any necessary assembly aids for increased clarity for operators
Developed a consistent template for use across all programs and assembly lines
Provided detailed time data to be used for the development and aid of other project initiatives
Demonstrated flexibility, extending support beyond the initial scope to meet changing needs and challenges
